About
The Douglas County ~ West Pheasants Forever chapter is part of a nationwide effort to conserve wildlife habitat and promote conservation education.
The Habitat Organization
Pheasants Forever was formed in 1982 by sportsmen and women who were concerned about declining pheasant and other upland wildlife populations. Since that time PF has grown to be the most effective, non-profit conservation organization in the country. There are now over 140,000 members and over 700 local chapters. Nebraska’s first chapter was formed in 1986 and we now boast 64 chapters and over 15,000 members in the state and have improved, created, or maintained over 4 million acres of wildlife habitat – that’s 4 Million acres JUST IN NEBRASKA! This is a milestone unmatched by any other conservation group in Nebraska! The time and effort of chapter volunteers and the generosity of our many sponsors, donors, and members will help us make a real and lasting difference for all wildlife.
Our chapter officers and committee members are committed to increasing pheasant numbers, by helping farmers and land owners, in our communities, improve and increase habitat. Youth education is equally important. Over the years, Nebraska PF chapters have introduced over 13,000 Nebraska youth to the sport of pheasant hunting. Our chapter has hosted a very successful Youth Mentor Hunt at Pheasant Bonanza in Tekamah, NE for the past several years. Each year we have had over 60 applications from area youth and last fall we were able to provide 32 youth the opportunity to participate in this hunt. This event helped introduce area boys and girls to the joy of pheasant hunting.
One of our greatest strengths is our unique chapter system where local PF chapters control 100% of the funds they raise. These funds are used to accomplish our organizational mission of habitat conservation for pheasants and other upland wildlife and to promote conservation education. This unique chapter system empowers local PF volunteers and supporters to make a real difference for wildlife and youth in their communities.
If you’d like to get involved, volunteer, sponsor, donate – whatever it is, please feel free to join us at one of our monthly meetings (schedule listed on the Calendar of Events at the top of this page) or contact us today! Thanks for your support.
